11:20 will have two sessions: Due to popular demand (again) Rod Beckstrom will hold another session as followup on his keynote and Creative Commons will be represented by Michelle Thorne.

I am still trying to find out if we can do sessions after the keynotes of if everything is closing up. Nonetheless the booth will have space to have a last meet in the sphere ;o)

How to come to web2open and present something

05.11.2007 | Nicole Simon I want to visit the web2open.
If you are coming to the Expo you will be able to find three rooms on the Expo show floor where you can visit different discussions and presentations. If you have your Expo pass, then you can come to the web2open, easy as that. See the Expo site about the web2open for the code and more information.

Follow the twitter feed to get more information during the day.

I would like to present
We have chosen from submissions a list of prechosen sessions which are listed on the wiki. Also there are two more two rooms (one with beamer and one without) where you can present.

If you like to present, you need to come up in the morning and put up your session at the 'administration booth'.

This is a first come first serve basis and it can be any topic. It should be related to the audience you can expect at the expo. So while it is interesting to learn how to make a real tea, this is not the place. I would love to see a huge variety of topics but limit yourself to relevant topic please

A word of warning though:
I have over the last week experienced a lot of very clueless companies who see this as a chance to do a product presentation and a pitch. This is NOT about presenting your product, as tempting and valuable it may seem to you. This is as much about trust as it is about treating the attendees with respect

(If your presentation title already sounds a lot like this, it will be taken down unless you can convince us this is really relevant and interesting to the audience.)

Can you help out at the registration desk?

04.11.2007 | Nicole Simon We do have a little admin / regestration desk on the web2open and it would be great if you could help out! this does not really involve something fancy, it is just about sitting there and perhaps answer small questions and help do the twitter account of w2o.

This would be appreciated if you could spare a time half a day as in before lunch / after keynotes on one of the days.

04.11.2007 | Nicole Simon Sorry for the lack of news and I promise I will be able to fill updates today if I get to wifi. Barcamp is great and if you are already in town come to Sankt Oberholz tonight!

And thanks to Twiki for hosting a new working wiki for us as my own server crashed with the Mysql.

BCN Berlin offers 'co-working' during the next week

01.11.2007 | Nicole Simon During the events Web 2.0, BarCamps and Girl Geek Dinner – work free of charge at the BNC Berlin. BCN will reserve its premises exclusively and free of charge to any participants of Web 2.0, BarCamp and Podcamp Berlin and the first Girl Geek Dinner in Germany. Everyone can work, meet and use the entire infrastructure of BCN-Berlin daily from 9 a.m. till 11 p.m. during this period. This means the week before BarCamp (for preparations) and the week after when Web 2.0 and Girl Geek Dinner are taking place.

TheBusinessClass.Net (BCN) is a digital and real network for freelancers. The real network consists of offices with rental workspaces in plug & play-quality. These include: WLAN, Laser printer, Scanner, Fax, ... right up to a small kitchen.

Schedule of the web2open

18.10.2007 | Nicole Simon The web2open starts on Tuesday,ends Thursday afternoon and follows the same schedule as the 'mother conference'. Reason for this is to allow visitors from the conference to also participate on the web2open.

The schedule of the web2open and the conference itself are in sync, meaning sessions will happen at the same time except for the keynotes. You will be able to see all keynotes as there is no slot planned (take a look at the current plan):

We do have 13 slots available over the three days and we will have a total of four rooms available on the expo hall for the web2open, so that there is enough space and time! ;)

How to register for the web2open (free)

18.10.2007 | Nicole Simon In order to attend the web2open you will need a so called Expo pass from the Expo site. All the details can be found at the official web2open info site, but here is the quick version:

• go to the registration site


• answer the question for "Have you received a priority code?" with yes and enter the code MLYEBEAA


• you will need to register for a user with the conference system


• choose "Full Event Expo Pass" as your option of choice

The code will reduce the small fee given to 'free' and this will give you the full access to

• the Keynotes


• the Expo hall and sponsored sessions


• of course the Web2Open

It will be a good idea to already get your badge on Monday to avoid hassle tuesday morning!

Submission deadline prolongued until Oct 14th.

Due to higher demand (as in nice emails and such) and because I was out of town and had not had the chance to really look at the submissions, we have prolongued the deadline for the pre chosen sessions til this weekend. So if you had not yet send something, please do so now. ;)

27.09.2007 | Nicole Simon Thanks to Brady and Jen for posting the link on their blogs, therefore a quick overview:

There is a A week full of events in November and there are reasons why Why you should come and speak at web2open.

If you are interested, it is time to submit your idea for a pre-chosen session, and we will have at least three full conference passes for the best submission on those. Deadline is 7th of October and no, it is not enough to just tell me "I would like to speak". :)

We are Looking for a nicer logo because the current one to display on your page is not very pretty. ;)



Besides other Information channels for the web2open, I think that a mailing list is always helpful for discussion and questions. You will get all necessary information through this blog, but if you would like to engage more (please do), that is going to be the easiest way to get in touch.
